Details
The Code of Standards sets the standards of conduct which are expected to be met by regulated advisers and regulated organisations and delivered for clients.
The code is made in accordance with paragraph 3 (1) of Schedule 5 of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999 (the Act), as amended. The code applies to any organisation or person providing immigration advice or immigration services in the UK in relation to a “relevant matter” as listed in section 82 of the Act except for those listed in Schedule 5, paragraph 3 (3).
The 2016 Commissioner’s Code of Standards, for which there is a set of guidance notes, took effect on 1 April 2016. Following a consultation, this code will be replaced with the ‘OISC’s Code of Standards: 2024’ from 1 September 2024. Up until that date, the existing 2016 code will apply. Guidance notes to support with the implementation of the new codes will follow.
